My work is grounded in traditional pottery.
My throwing marks are strong.
They trace the gesture of my hands as I form each piece on the potter's wheel.
I often alter these shapes further by pulling their sides out,
emphasizing the fluidity of the wet clay.
Looking for each piece's unique character.
I have worked with clay since I was twelve.
It is all there, even in a simple cup.
Every kiln load holds a surprise.
Each piece has its own story to tell.
Glazed in black and white, highlighting the forms
and marked by the firing process.
These pieces are meant to hold your memories
and turn daily activities into special occasions.

I work in groupings of similar forms
making several pieces in one session
moving quickly to keep each piece fresh
looking at the last piece for new ideas
finding subtle relationships between each work.
